August 22, 2007
In our last episode, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson where enjoying some time off at a Charity Fundraiser. Elsewhere the Riddler escapes with the help of Evil Bill.
So let us return to the Gotham City Police Department where Batman just open the Riddlers' message.
The Chief reads out loud, "Riddle me this, what has one hundred digits, but its sum is never greater than twenty-eight?
Robin said, "What does it mean?"
Batman said,"Read like that it makes no sense since twenty-eight divided by one hundred equals zero point two eight, so I believe we have a case of mixed radixs here.
Robin said, "Of course it's not all base ten"
Batman said, "The first number is one zero zero which could be any base two or higher and the second number is two eight which could be any base nine or higher. Now we know the Riddler escaped with the help of Evil Bill. What drives Evil Bill?
Robin said, "He wants to infect every computer with his virus like operating system.
Batman said, "And in the computer world there are four common number bases used: binary(base 2), octal(base 8), decimal(base 10), and hexadecimal(base 16)." Batman walks to the white broad and writes the riddle out with blanks for the numbers. "So if use the lowest common bases that will work," Batman filled in the blanks and said, "we get this."
Riddle me this:
What has 4 digits, but its sum is never greater than 28?
When we return, Will Batman finish solving the riddle? Will he stop the Riddler and Evil Bill? Until next time, same Bat Channel, same Bat Time.
